Antique Glass Door Knobs

It feels like I have been living in a world surrounded by antique glass door knobs recently.  I live in an old victorian house in the middle of England and love the fact that the house I bought has many of the original features still intact.  In fact, we bought the house because of the original sash windows, complete with wobbly glass too.

Some of the internal doors have been changed over the years, so we have been busy restoring them to the original styles, getting most things from local reclaim yards, but we trolly struggled to get hold of replacement old glass door knobs.

It's strange how hard they are to get hold of these days.  Luckily, I managed to find some online that are not the original pieces, but they do match the style and design that we wanted.

I have got this list together for you to show you the top 3 antique glass items I found, so that it will be easy for you to also get what you want.

Glass Door Knob Sets

These heavy duty items are perfect for your house if you are looking for door furniture from the 1920's.  They are in the depression glass style and come as a set of 4, enough for 2 doors.

They are reproductions, but the company that makes them have per 40 years of experience and therefore, they are absolutely ideal for your home.

They are designed to fit standard 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch thick doors and there are full installation instructions too, so they are a breeze to fit.  Check out the price of these lovely glass door knobs here.

Crystal Door Knobs

One of the other items we looked at for our home was a set of crystal door knobs, which to be honest are similar to glass ones, but are made from different material and are therefore better looking and more hard wearing.

These crystal knobs are designed to be fitted by yourself (DIY) and come with everything you need to fit them to a modern door size.

They are styled on the 1900's and can be retro-fitted to your normal internal doors and work with latches too, compared to the first item I listed above, which are more designed for french doors.

You will need a few tools to install these, such as a screwdriver and some glue, but they are very easy to fit and look amazing too.  People have given some great reviews of these crystal door knobs and the price is great too.

Colored Glass Door Knobs

Now these door knobs are something quite special and will definitely add the "wow factor" to your home if you install them.

These are designed to model the style of Victorian era door knobs, but have a colour burned in to make them very fashionable.

They are also made in a limited number, so owning them will be a real statement for your home.  These coloured door knobs are also available in a range of colours to suit your tastes, from Azure Blue, greens, pink and the red as pictured above.

Check out the range of coloured door knobs here - the prices are also very good for these one-off pieces.

I hope that I have given you food for thought for your home and that you have found the style that you are looking for.

We opted for the first set and then bought some of the red coloured glass knobs for the bathroom - and they look amazing.  Right, thanks for reading - I am off to look at reclaimed floorboards now.  Wish me luck!
